You should be asking your patients how their experience in your office has been
and were they happy with your service or if they have any questions. This is a
great way to not only provide good customer service, but to also obtain feedback
about your office. By listening to your patients, you will know exactly what
they want. Then you can tweak your office systems to be sure that you over
deliver in every category.
You should always send them a birthday card, holiday cards and thank you cards,
to name a few basics. Successful business owners knows that if you don't
give excellent care, build solid "personal relationships" and give
your patients what they want...someone else will.
Have you ever lost a patient that you thought would be your patient and "friend"
for life? Do you know why you lost them? I do!
You didn't build a strong enough relationship.
Simply sending a couple of re-activation letters per year isn't enough. You need
to keep your name and face in front of them. You should stay in touch with them,
just like you do with old friends.
You can't only depend on email.
Some people would say that using e-mail would be a good way to build patient
retention. There's no doubt that there is a place for e-mail. But think about
this, how many e-mails a day do you get that you don't open, and don't read.
Your patients are no different. Their inbox is filled with "junk" and the last
thing that you want is to compete with that. Let's face it, it's real hard to
get the personal touch across in an email.

Sending generic "Plain Jane" mailing pieces to your list and expecting results,
